Things to Avoid at a New Job - The Muse
Things to Avoid at a New Job - The Muse Things to Avoid at a New Job In some cases, at a new position, things simply click. Instantly by any means, you feel like piece of the group. You're kidding around with your collaborators, visiting coolly with your chief, and, generally speaking, feeling really good with the manner in which your new office works. In any case, a useful piece of advise: No issue how agreeable you feel or how amazing your new position is, there are sure safeguards that every new worker should take-for your notoriety, professional success, and generally work achievement. Without a doubt, they're things you may effectively have the option to pull off a couple of months into the job, however for the present, it's ideal to avoid any and all risks. To benefit your activity, don't attempt to pull off these five things-in any event, not yet. 1. Grumbling About Your Previous Job or Boss As you become more acquainted with your new partners, you'll likely wind up in discussions about your experience which can without much of a stretch end up with you recounting anecdotes about your horrible past activity and the terrible associates and manager you had there. Without a doubt, those accounts may produce a couple of snickers however as a pristine expansion to the group, they can likewise place you in a negative light. Hearing you fuss about your earlier associates can make your new collaborators consider you to be a grumbler, somebody who doesn't esteem cooperation, and somebody who will most likely wind up discussing your new colleagues behind their backs. In a couple of months, when individuals know you, the nature of your work, and your loyalties, you might have the option to pull off recounting to those accounts with no repercussions. However, until further notice when the ink on your offer letter has scarcely dried-it's smarter to keep things positive. 2. Exploiting a Flexible Schedule Most sensible supervisors are adaptable, and they'll comprehend on the off chance that you need to come in late in view of an early morning dental specialist arrangement, leave ahead of schedule to take your canine to the vet, or take a long lunch on the grounds that. Be that as it may, regardless of whether you have the most adaptable manager on the planet, somewhat, those benefits must be earned. For your initial barely any weeks at work, it's essential to set up a notoriety of being a diligent employee which implies that except if a contention is completely unavoidable, it's ideal to appear on schedule (or early), stay until the remainder of the group leaves, and take a sensible mid-day break. Following half a month, you'll have a superior thought of how frequently it's OK to exploit the adaptability and since your notoriety will have just been built up, nobody will be left addressing in case you're truly leaving for a regular checkup or jumping out ahead of schedule to get party time. 3. Utilizing Excess Sarcasm You need your colleagues to become more acquainted with the genuine you, obviously. Furthermore, perhaps the genuine you utilizes mockery or not really politically-right silliness to get a few chuckles. While I surely advocate being certifiable in your associations with your new group, unrefined diversion and mockery can frequently appear to be somewhat unforgiving or even rude. Also, that won't set an incredible pace for your commitments to the group. My recommendation? Tone it down for a piece until you have a superior handle on the remainder of your group's characters and faculties of funniness and they have a superior thought of yours. At that point, you can gradually (and suitably) begin working in your genuine comical inclination. 4. Making a decision about Your Co-laborers At the point when you're new to the activity, you might be enticed to shape a few decisions immediately about specific associates that they're irritating, disrupted, backstabbing, or messy. Be that as it may, while it's fairly unavoidable to establish first connections, those suppositions aren't generally exact. Following a couple of long periods of becoming acquainted with your partners, you'll likely discover that underneath the apparently messy work is a splendidly imaginative psyche, or that the relentlessly effusive associate is really an expert at introductions. So as troublesome as it might be, retain judgment when you're fresh out of the plastic new. When you have an all the more strong handle on your associates' qualities and characters, you'll have the option to make substantially more firm and precise conclusions about who you need to work with on specific ventures, knowing precisely what's in store from every individual. 5. Addressing Leadership We regularly offer the guidance that you should come into a new position condition furnished with recommendations and prepared to tackle issues and that is extraordinary. The difficulty comes when new workers promptly begin scrutinizing their managers or official authority choices without a genuine comprehension of the issue, a legitimate proposal for how to roll out an improvement, or a comprehension of the supervisor's disposition and how the person in question will take the recommendation. As it were, they're essentially whining. To make the best proposals and in the long run, transforms it very well may be valuable to truly dive into your area of expertise's difficulties, endeavoring to comprehend what requirements changing, what's been endeavored as of now, and why a change hasn't occurred at this point. It's likewise useful to comprehend your manager's character and correspondence inclinations, with the goal that you can introduce proposals such that is well on the way to be acknowledged. When that has been resolved, definitely, question everything without exception. However, up to that point, continue burrowing. Avoiding potential risk can want to tread lightly. Be that as it may, track cautiously for only a short time, and you'll have an a lot higher possibility for achievement later on. Photograph of individuals strolling civility of Shutterstock.

Improving Power Plant Efficiency
Improving Power Plant Efficiency Improving Power Plant Efficiency As the population of the world grows at a staggering rate, there is an increasing need of sustainable resources that do not impact the environment. One of the best solutions to this dilemma is to improve efficiency of power plants that energize our homes and businesses. Unless those stations are not designed to use less energy future generations will miss out. A few of the issues that should be taken into account to address this issue include: Optimizing all processes in the plant by introducing advanced software and tools Determining and implementing best practices that are current Training employees in energy efficient processes Upgrading equipment such as steam turbines Lowering temperatures Using motors that utilize variable speeds Reducing leakage of air, fluids, steam and water Conducting online and offline real time analysis of plant efficiency Several technologies can be utilized many of which are commonly available via suppliers. These include: Variable speed drives that can be used in place of traditional throttling technologies for systems where the load is varied or in case there is a pump or fan in place Replacement or regular repair of transformers before they get too damaged or too old to function and need more energy to work. These are responsible for regulating power in each part of the plant so ensuring they are in working order should be a priority. Using state of the art blades for low pressure turbines which can reduce the amount of fuel that is used to power them and keep units cool Replacing motors for ones that give better performance and efficiency when it comes to fuel and fluid handling systems. This is preferable over rewinding them which requires more effort and reduces efficiency. Doing so can give the motor 10% more power. Improving thermal efficiency by improving the performance of feedwater chain systems. This can be done with the use of compact heat exchangers as opposed to traditional models which require more effort to work. As the extraction steam is reduced with the new models thermal efficiency will increase. Reducing losses of kilowatts of energy by maintaining and upgrading generator cooling systems about the required 95%. All in all the best way to improve power plant efficiency while reducing costs is via regular maintenance of all units. This should be combined with efficient monitoring and control practices that takes all plant operations into account. Site development can also be optimized and efficiency can be maximized with low cost operations that are better than traditional models. This can be done if plant owners stop copying old designs of existing power plants which are not beneficial to this day and age. Other solutions such as monitoring and preventing leaks, steam trap management and preventing material loss will also go a long way in improving plant efficiency. The bottom line is that the demand for clean energy is driving power plant projects today and its influence has spread across the globe. The growing need for performance management is more important than ever making audits essential. If a station is examined for energy inefficiencies and a plan is set in place to solve those issues, plant owners can save time, money and resources that can otherwise be spent elsewhere. A comprehensive plan should be set in place that can result in maximum yield with minimum to no waste at costs that are far lower than what we have to contend with today. This will also reduce the capital that is spent on plant construction and maintenance costs which can then be used to create a new plant that is as energy efficient. Distribution Training Whether you are the owner of a power plant or a worker in one, training will help you improve performance and become an asset to the business. 360Trainingâs Distribution Training course is designed to cover the operation of distribution systems in a power plant. 48 Hours After a Job Rejection - Melissa Llarena
48 Hours After a Job Rejection 48 Hours After a Job Rejection The 48 hours after a job rejection are critical. They sting even when you really did not want the job. You spent a great deal of time convincing yourself that you were the best candidate but apparently the interviewer disagreed. Your ego is scarred and you must start all over. Within those 48 hours, you have to decide how to use that negative energy. While working with a number of folks with raw emotions due to job rejections, and who then opted to hire me to change their luck, here are the three most productive ways that you should spend those first 48 hours.Stop.Donât do anything the first 24 hours after being rejected. Avoid applying to any job during these 24 hours. Skip job-related calls. Ignore emails. Donât let that rejection negatively impact new opportunities because it does have an effect on your energy and attitude, whether you believe it or not. A marketing executive I worked with decided to ignore this tip. He opted to aggressively app ly to jobs when he was âdinged.â 24 hours later he reviewed his email sent box and realized that his tone was: too aggressive, arrogant, and that he had misspelled the word âsincerelyâ three times. Clear your mind, sleep on it, then start fresh on day two.DropOn day two put your head down and write the answers you gave during that âfailedâ interview (s). Then re-write how you might have made each point more persuasive. Include in this re-writing exercise your elevator pitch as well as the questions you asked each interviewer. When you think about your pitch ensure it shows how you plan to benefit a prospective employer. In terms of your own questions, toss out the ones you can ask any company. Craft more strategic questions that prove you are prepared and smart.***If you need help executing any of these points then take advantage of a free-15 minute consultationfrom a highly-effective career coach.***It was not until I conducted a mock interview with an aspiring wealth m anager that he realized he needed to flaunt his existing client relationships more aggressively.Roll Get even with your interviewerâs firm by rolling up your sleeves and applying to the competition. You did so much research on the sector and its players; use this information to propel your candidacy elsewhere. Spend your efforts figuring out how you can work for a key competitor and figuratively âtake downâ the firm that rejected you. Build your new target company list by using LinkedIn. Find the company page of the firm that rejected you. On its company page, you can see where its current employees worked before and where its ex-employees went. Use that data to build a new target company list, then apply using your networks. The moment a client shares their interview war stories I quickly turn them around and have them target the competition. There is no better way to boost your morale than by trying to take down the firm that caused you so much anguish.

3 Clues That Your Resume is Giving The Wrong Information
3 Clues That Your Resume is Giving The Wrong Information For job hunters, thereâs nothing worse than filling your resume with your duties, focusing on overused phrases, and spelling out a dry list of your jobs. The reason? Employers want to hire not only a person that meets the qualifications for a particular role, but a solutionâ"a candidate that can help solve business problems, lead work teams to productivity, or deliver cost savings to the organization. All too often, job hunters commit a cardinal error by loading up their resumes with the wrong kind of information, meaning that the document fails to answer the âSo what?â question for hiring managers. In effect, this writing style will put your qualifications into a category whereby your background is seen as identical to other candidates vying for the same jobâ"and that canât be a good thing. To correct this problem, start with a fundamental shift in the way you view the purpose of your resumeâ"changing your focus from a dry list of âhereâs what I didâ to âheres what I can do for YOU.â Here are 3 main clues that your resume needs an overhaul in order to move an employerâs response from âSo what?â to âCall for an interview:â You forgot to emphasize results.Todayâs hiring managers are looking for consistent proof of performance. So how can you provide it? Start with a list of your contributions to the team and the company, then describe the effect on the employerâs bottom line. The idea, of course, is to RID your resume of the obvious (everyone knows that an accountant manages the general ledger, managers supervise, and network administrators monitor servers), while giving employers a clear picture of the extent of what you can do. Many people think that employers are focused on job duties and donât want more details, while just the opposite is true. Itâs of utmost importance to give the outcome of each task that youâve initiated or completed while at work. To do this, take EACH resume sentence and scrutinize it for results. Does it present just the facts, or does it convey what happened? Rewrite each sentence with a clear focus on what happened after you took on that project, led a new team or developed new policies. Youâll be amazed at the difference in the responses to your resume. You failed to be specific about your achievements. This is probably the biggest problem found in most resumes circulating the Internet. Itâs concise, focused description of your accomplishments that lands the interview. For example, say you increased sales â" by HOW MUCH? You implemented changes for efficiency that reduced hiring â" by HOW MANY PEOPLE? If you increased new business â" by WHAT PERCENTAGE? Grew revenue by 435% to $5 million by winning major contracts drives your point home better than Provided contract negotiation support. The best way to come up with these figures is to review each sentence in your resume to see if it can be quantified. Make a list of questions such as the ones noted above, and ask yourself for additional detail as if you were at a job interview. Remember that figures in this case speak much louder than anything else you can use. Quantifying your contributions is an absolute MUST in order to make your credentials stand out above others, and to make the case that you bring verifiable strengths to your next job. You copied or re-used phrases. It seems basic, but many candidates bore hiring authorities by using the same wording repeatedly, or re-use what theyâve seen elsewhere. For example, how catchy is the phrase âResponsible forâ¦?â Yet, it populates the average resume at least a half-dozen times. Essentially, if you donât use interesting verbiage on your resume, then donât expect much interest from the reader. A resume should be written to engage the hiring audience so that they want to know MORE about you, not less. The good news is that there are more than 170,000 words in the English language, meaning that you have a lot of choices. For example, âmanagedâ can be changed to âdirected,â âspearheaded,â âoversaw,â âchampioned,â âled,â etc. As you can see, thereâs no need to re-use the same information to convey your point. Revitalize your resume to deliver a powerful, compelling message, using what professional resume writers call âPower Verbsâ, by consulting a thesaurus. In summary, remember that your resumeâs job is to give employers an accurate and powerful picture of your skills, and that going against conventional, outdated styles can be the right thing to do. Since reading hundreds of resumes can wear down even the most energetic hiring manager, itâs best to leave the tedious resume wording for use by someone else, in order to market yourself as the PERFECT SOLUTION that will produce bottom-line results.

How 17 Real People Got Their Jobs
How 17 Real People Got Their Jobs How 17 Real People Got Their Jobs How 17 Real People Got Their Jobs The previous fall, I read a post at Secrets of the Job Hunt, talking about best and most noticeably awful approaches to get a new line of work. Refering to unique research led by Weddles, they gave a rundown of the most-and least-accommodating hotspots for getting recruited. The six classes in the first examination were, arranged by supportiveness: Online occupation sheets Talent scout or staffing firm Tip from a companion Systems administration at work or at a business occasion Profession fairs Paper promotions. My So-Called Reality Poll My experience didnt truly fit with the outcomes, so I chose to gather information of companions and associates to check whether they concurred with the rundown. I got reactions from 17 genuine individuals (one of whom was me). I asked them how they landed their positions, and to pick one of the six classes above, or to show Other in the event that they didnt fit perfectly into any of the six classifications. Here, for what theyre worth, are the totally informal, factually immaterial consequences of my investigation. The champ by an embarrassing margin was Other, with 41% of the vote. The other participants were: Tip from Friend (29%); Online Job Board (18%); Networking at Work (12%); and Staffing Firm (1%). Considerably more fascinating were the clarifications that went with the Other reactions: I purchased the organization I worked for. I began another organization with my previous collaborators. I landed my position through the birth waterway; I work for my folks. My folks purchased the organization. It was my sister-parents in law occupation and she opened a café, so I took it over. My old business asked me back with an offer I was unable to won't. My graduate school recruited me after I graduated. I may contend that a portion of those fall into the Tip from a Friend classification (on the off chance that you comprehensively characterize companion as an individual I know in some limit). With respect to the individuals who selected one of the six classifications from the Weddles investigate, heres an inspecting of their reactions: My old supervisor's better half works for my present chief, so she set the ball rolling in a good direction. (Tip from a Friend) A person I had a business relationship with enlisted me over to my new organization. (Systems administration at Work) I addressed an advertisement on the web. (one utilized CraigsList.org, one utilized CareerBuilder.com, and one utilized Indeed.com (Online Job Board) A school scout enlisted me. (Talent scout) Appears to me it all equitable returns to the well known fact. Its who you know. You should? What work chasing techniques have been effective as far as you can tell?

Adding and Subtracting to Make the Next Generation of Hybrid 3DCNC Machines
Adding and Subtracting to Make the Next Generation of Hybrid 3DCNC Machines Adding and Subtracting to Make the Next Generation of Hybrid 3DCNC Machines Adding and Subtracting to Make the Next Generation of Hybrid 3D-CNC Machines Regardless of how ground-breaking, 3D printers cannot print everything. Despite the fact that there are various innovations accessible for printing metal parts, there are likewise various special cases. The similarity of materials and machines can differ essentially, printers manufacture volumes are restricted in size, and frequently 3D printers cannot reproduce the sort of exactness required for crucial parts that require processing and machining to complete the surface. In any case, multi-machines that consolidate added substance with different techniques for assembling could end up being more financially savvy and effective than customary 3D printing. A few organizations in the added substance producing (AM) space have started investigating approaches to consolidate subtractive and added substance advances. Hurco, an Indianapolis, IN.,- based machine-instrument organization, has been exploring different avenues regarding adding added substance capacities to its in any case subtractive PC numerical control (CNC) innovation. CNC machines utilize refined PC models to control the speed and bearing of a machine, switch, or other cutting instrument mounted on a shaft, so as to shape complex parts out of a strong bit of metal or plastic. Including added substance A year ago, Hurco declared its patent for a connector to CNC machines, which viably transforms them into 3D printers. This 1990s time CNC machine was paid off eBay and overhauled with a LENS 3D print head, laser-safe hood, controller, and powder feeder, so metal parts can be fabricated utilizing both added substance and subtractive advances. Picture: Optomec A portion of our client base invests energy making models for clients, and right now theyre losing a portion of that business to individuals who are making models utilizing 3D printers, says Elias Pavlakos, creator of the patent. The organization wrote in a discharge that the connector permits clients to go from print to plastic model to completed metal part on one machine without rehashed arrangements and without different prototyping using exorbitant metals and crude material. 3D printing is extremely valuable in the capacity to quickly deliver a structure, get it to a clients hands, get some criticism from them, and afterward repeat over and over, Pavlakos says. You can create an item that better accommodates your clients needs, in light of the fact that youre ready to emphasize a lot more occasions, and still convey a last item in a moderately brief timeframe. Including subtractive Somewhere else, America Makes of Youngstown, OH. one of the countries chiefs in AM and 3D-printing innovation researchperiodically gives venture calls. Chosen organizations can get Department of Defense financing for ventures that advance the 3D printing industry. This perplexing metal part was made utilizing both added substance and subtractive assembling strategies in only three weeks, contrasted and the 52 weeks that would be required utilizing another strategy. Picture: Optomec Optomec, an Albuquerque, NM., provider of AM frameworks, addressed America Makes 2014 task call with a proposed cutting edge 3D printer. The organization wound up winning the honor for its concept of joining a conventional CNC machine instrument with LENS, its powdered metal laser-based 3D-printing innovation. We took the basic parts of our framework, which is our print head, our powder feeders, and our control programming, says Tom McDonald, Optomec program director for the task, and we fundamentally bundled it as a unit that we could take and put on any CNC machine apparatus. Many, numerous factories...have machine apparatuses that are staying there underutilized, where they could take a current machine instrument, add the capacity to it, so theyve got both testimony and machining on a similar work cell, Richard Grylls, Optomecs senior supervisor for LENS innovation, said in a video discharge. The organization as of late showed the idea on an old CNC machine from the 1990s, bought on eBay. We fundamentally stripped it out, put another controller on it, included laser affidavit capabilitypowder feeders, laser testimony headand made a mixture machine where we have both the capacity to do regular machining on a factory, and do laser statement next to each other, said Grylls. Initially Optomec just wanted to make the innovation accessible as a retrofit to restore an old framework, yet the idea has developed to selling it as a frill unit for another CNC machine, McDonald says. Theyre getting into added substance fabricating a lot less expensive than purchasing a full framework, Grylls said. Just the market will tell in the coming months and years which bearing it will go. The new wilderness of added substance assembling can be scary to explore; luckily, theres the ASME AM3D meeting to help control you as you incorporate AM into your business. Get familiar with the ASME Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing Conference and Expo here. Holly Martin is a free author. You can create an item that better meets your clients' requirements, since you're ready to emphasize a lot more occasions, and still convey a last item in a generally brief time of timeElias Pavlakos, Hurco

Writing a Great Resume - Things to Consider Before Hiring a Resume Writing ServiceIf you are hiring a resume writing service to write a great resume for you, then you may want to consider Uniontown Ohio. Uniontown is one of the best places in Ohio to go to when you need to get the most from your resume. You have already made the decision to outsource your resume writing service, but you may still have questions about finding a professional resume writer who will deliver a top notch resume to you. It can be a daunting task finding a quality resume writer who will not only do a great job, but also produce a resume that gets you noticed. There are several aspects to getting your resume noticed.First, do not forget to consider the first impression that your resume leaves. This is an important aspect because resumes are used as first impressions in many types of jobs. Whether you are applying for a job at a local restaurant, a startup job, or a more permanent position, a good resume will l eave a lasting impression on the employer. Resumes should be short and to the point, written with crisp and clean grammar and using the right type of spelling.A resume is also used as a measuring stick in many of the interviews that are involved in your future career path. This means that it needs to be well designed and produce the type of results that will be a positive indicator for the company that is searching for an employee. A good resume writer will design a resume that will show the employer exactly what they need to know about you, while at the same time not distracting them from the task at hand. The second thing that a good resume needs to include is a list of accomplishments that show how you can add value to the company. These accomplishments can come from professional experience or even personal experience. As a matter of fact, personal experiences can often hold more value than professional ones. This is why so many employers are hiring from non-traditional career pat hs such as hospitality or healthcare. You should also consider including any training that you have received in your resume. This is a good idea because this can help to demonstrate your strong interpersonal skills. Often, this is also a way for you to show that you have some work experience that is relevant to the position that you are applying for. An effective resume should display your strengths while also highlighting your weaknesses. If you are looking for a professional resume writer, Uniontown Ohio is the place to look. Uniontown has been in business for over two decades and is among the leaders in the resume writing industry. New! Careers support for Humanities PGRs University of Manchester Careers Blog
New! Careers support for Humanities PGRs University of Manchester Careers Blog The SALC Graduate School and the Careers Service have joined forces to make it even easier for all Humanities PGRs to access careers support. From next week, I will be holding drop-in guidance appointments in my new office in Ellen Wilkinson C1.5 (some of you might have already noticed the door and/or me bedecking it with useful careers stuff). If the door is open, do stop in and say hello (if the door is closed, I will be having an appointment with someone. Or not there.). You can book appointments through your CareersLink account: bit.ly/hums-cm I will also be running a series of workshops during the semester in Ellen Wilkinson C1.18. You can download a schedule (HUMS Sem 1 2015 Researchers Career Workshops) What is careers guidance (and why might it be useful)? That phrase is made up of two words with interesting histories. Our modern âcareerâ derives from the French carrière â" a racecourse for horses, later meaning a path, a course that one follows before finally acquiring its modern sense of a personâs course or progress through life. Guidance can trace its roots back to an Old French guier to guide, lead, conduct. The OED defines a guide as: âOne who leads or shows the way, esp. to a traveller in a strange country; spec. one who is hired to conduct a traveller or tourist ⦠and to point out objects of interest.â We are often a strange country to ourselves. I recently ran a workshop with a group of second year PhD students. In response to my questions none â" apparently â" had any achievements, skills, knowledge or experience. As University of Manchester PhD students from all over the world, I know and you know, thatâs simply not true. There are two things going on there â" often we donât know our own achievements very well because we havenât stopped to reflect on them, and, sadly, we are too often conditioned to minimise our achievements rather than be able to speak about them confidently. We donât benefit from the experiences of others, and they donât benefit from yours. Everyone loses. In a guidance appointment I wonât tell you what to do (or not to do), but I will conduct you on a tour of yourself and point out objects of interest and curiosity in your life. My aim is to help you assert as much control over your career as possible â" a âprogress through life abounding with remarkable incidentsâ (OED sense 5a. doesnt that sound quite appealing?) rather being feeling like youâre being dragged on a wild gallop by an errant horse. As ever, I look forward to meeting and working with you during the coming year! All Postgraduate career planning postgraduate

While many creative types are using infographic resumes, there are some situations in which youâll want to stick to traditional text in presenting your work history. Learn the pros and cons of infographic resumes, and get tips on how you can create and use one to land a job. Pros of Infographic Resumes Stand out from the crowd. Competition is fierce for jobs. Being able to differentiate yourself from your competitors is crucial. Visual appeal. As already mentioned, graphics are more interesting and appealing than documents full of text and bullet points. Clearly showcase information. Infographics are designed to sort, arrange and showcase data in an easy to understand manner. Easy to share online. Infographics work well in social media including LinkedIn, Pinterest and posting in an online portfolio. With a single link you can showcase your expertise in a visually compelling manner. Cons of Infographic Resumes Not all jobs are suited to infographic resumes. Many employers require traditional resumes because thatâs what theyâre used to and expect. Some employers may use an Applicant Tracking System that scans and looks for keywords to measure the applicantâs fit to the job. That type of scanning doesnât work with infographics, which means youâre resume would be weeded out Not all employers are open to infographic resumes. Traditions die-hard. There is a difference between differentiating yourself and being annoyingly clever. Infographic resume may be perceived as less professional. When to Use an Infographic Resume Because theyâre still not accepted by all employers, you should continue to use a traditional text resume when applying for jobs. However, because employers will likely do a web search on you, having your infographic online can be a great way to show off your creativity and seriousness in finding a job. Some places to use an infographic include: 1) Your website or blog. 2) Online portfolio. 3) LinkedIn profile. 4) Pinterest page. How to Create an Infographic Resume There are services, such as Vizualize.me and Vizify, that will help you make an infographic resume based on your social media content. The key points to remember in creating an infographic resume are: 1) Cover all the important aspects required on resumes, such as education and job history. 2) Make it easy to read and understand. Your infographic shouldnât be overly cluttered. 3) Condense data into readily understood snippets. Work timelines and other measurable statistics are easily represented visually. 4) Include a photo of you and contact information.

4 Low-Cost Employee Education Options You Can Try
4 Low-Cost Employee Education Options You Can Try If youâre a manager or an owner of a small business looking for a training program to boost your teamâs performance, chances are youâre having a hard time finding a solution that fits all the requirements in your checklist.Cost is one of the main considerations in choosing a training program, and finding a cost-effective training solution is a must for every business who wants to grow. The Importance of Employee TrainingevalAs technology becomes more advanced and businesses become more dependent on modern applications, the need for people who are skilled in the digital landscape is a must.evalTraining allows businesses to keep up with the fast pace of tech innovations so that your team can use the tools they need to do more work in less time.Another advantage of training is increased happiness and productivity levels among your employees. Training and development opportunities keep your employees motivated to do excellent work, which translates to more profit and growth opportun ity for your business as a whole. While the common reason managers shy away from training is due to costly seminar workshops, the benefits actually negate the expenses incurred. Think of it as an investment to your employees, which are your best assets. By allowing them to improve and be better, youâre setting your business up for growth and ultimately, success. While cost is a top priority for managers looking for a training program, there are options that offer the same value for a lower cost. If youâre a small team and canât afford an expensive training program, here are four solutions you can try:1. Seminars Sponsored by Government AgenciesGovernment agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry You may be using devices in your business workflow that you bought from third-party vendors. In that case, you can check if they offer free training on the product that you availed. Many product vendors are more than happy to educate their customers on the inner workings of t heir product.Unlike commercial training providers that offer âthe best tips on how to use X software,â directly asking the vendors of the products you use for support on how to use their software gives you the same value without shelling out a huge chunk of your funds.Check if the online conferencing tool youâre using for your business offers a free training your employees can take advantage of. Learning how to use your tools to their full potential is bound to increase productivity in the office.3.Negosyo CentersThe Go Negosyo Law mandates the creation of Negosyo Centers all over the country to promote entrepreneurship in provinces and stimulate the local economy. These Negosyo Centers are tasked with helping local businesses grow by providing skills and livelihood training, as well as assistance in connecting businesses to the right market.evalIf youâre a small business owner, then Negosyo Centers is your best friend. Get access to helpful training and mentorship with like -minded individuals by finding a Negosyo Center near you.4.In-house TrainingWhat if you can host a training program in your own backyard? In-house training is a low-cost option that works if you already have a venue for the training. Compared to training workshops offered commercially, you can cut down on costs by opting for an in-house training program offered by nearby training providers. With in-house training, you also have to factor in other expenses like venue (if youâre renting a training facility), food, and airfare/transportation of your resource speakers, so it requires a little more planning. But once youâve considered all these factors, in-house training may just be the right option for you.Wrapping UpTreating employee training as an investment rather than a cost to running your business is the first step in opening the doors to growth. Ultimately, the people youâre working with is the most important asset of your company, so not being stingy on employee training ca n pay dividends for your business.Remember, these training options may be low-cost, but itâs still important to not compromise on quality and get the training program that suits your needs. Having achecklist is an easy way to speed through the consideration process and decide on the best training program for your team.

Exercise - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog
Exercise - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog Check out this quote from an article in Fast Company: A nine-month study of 80 executives found that those who worked out regularly improved their fitness by 22% and demonstrated a 70% improvement in their ability to make complex decisions as compared with non-exercisers. A couple of days ago, there was a doctor on TV talking about the health benefits of regular exercise. The danish state will allow doctors to prescribe exercise the way they describe medication. Among others, exercise is good against heart disease, colon cancer and osteoporosis. The more you exercise, the more it works and heres the clincher: There are NO negative side effects of exercise. Any medicine out there (and I do mean ANY) has side effects. Exercise doesnt. In a time where doctors warn that so many things can be bad for you, I think thats kinda interesting. So exercise?already! Thanks for visiting my blog. If you're new here, you should check out this list of my 10 most popular articles. Being proactive in your job search finding your dream job - Hallie Crawford
Being proactive in your job search â" finding your dream job We had a great Top Ten Tips teleclass yesterday. The teleclass was very interactive and there was a lot of good learning from the participants. One participant, Terry, explained that she has been fortunate to have enjoyed her career path so far, especially because she fell into it. She was offered different roles at her school over the years and sheâs enjoyed every one of them. Sheâs getting ready to retire now, but she is looking for a job post-retirement. She knows in order to do that, she needs to be proactive and admits that sheâs a little fearful of that because so far, everything has really just fallen into her lap. This is understandable and normal. Not everyone gets this lucky and just falls into a job they love. Wouldnât that be nice if that always happened? She brought up a very important point that I always tell my clients â" the best way to find a career you love is to proactively seek it out. Create it AND make it happen. So often people are in jobs they dont like because they were not proactive. They just took whatever was offered to them. Are you reacting to your career instead of creating it? Are you taking a job just because itâs offered as opposed to you really wanting it? If so itâs time to take charge! Now this doesnt mean dont pay your bills and say no to something when you need a job for financial reasons-be smart. But in addition to that, take the time to consider what your next best step is and plan for it, take action. Choose what you are doing, dont let it choose you! You can learn more about effectively managing your career transition in my career transition ebook. Hereâs to having a career you love! Job Search Help
