4 Low-Cost Employee Education Options You Can Try

4 Low-Cost Employee Education Options You Can Try If you’re a manager or an owner of a small business looking for a training program to boost your team’s performance, chances are you’re having a hard time finding a solution that fits all the requirements in your checklist.Cost is one of the main considerations in choosing a training program, and finding a cost-effective training solution is a must for every business who wants to grow. The Importance of Employee TrainingevalAs technology becomes more advanced and businesses become more dependent on modern applications, the need for people who are skilled in the digital landscape is a must.evalTraining allows businesses to keep up with the fast pace of tech innovations so that your team can use the tools they need to do more work in less time.Another advantage of training is increased happiness and productivity levels among your employees. Training and development opportunities keep your employees motivated to do excellent work, which translates to more profit and growth opportun ity for your business as a whole. While the common reason managers shy away from training is due to costly seminar workshops, the benefits actually negate the expenses incurred. Think of it as an investment to your employees, which are your best assets. By allowing them to improve and be better, you’re setting your business up for growth and ultimately, success. While cost is a top priority for managers looking for a training program, there are options that offer the same value for a lower cost. If you’re a small team and can’t afford an expensive training program, here are four solutions you can try:1. Seminars Sponsored by Government AgenciesGovernment agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry You may be using devices in your business workflow that you bought from third-party vendors. In that case, you can check if they offer free training on the product that you availed. Many product vendors are more than happy to educate their customers on the inner workings of t heir product.Unlike commercial training providers that offer “the best tips on how to use X software,” directly asking the vendors of the products you use for support on how to use their software gives you the same value without shelling out a huge chunk of your funds.Check if the online conferencing tool you’re using for your business offers a free training your employees can take advantage of. Learning how to use your tools to their full potential is bound to increase productivity in the office.3.Negosyo CentersThe Go Negosyo Law mandates the creation of Negosyo Centers all over the country to promote entrepreneurship in provinces and stimulate the local economy. These Negosyo Centers are tasked with helping local businesses grow by providing skills and livelihood training, as well as assistance in connecting businesses to the right market.evalIf you’re a small business owner, then Negosyo Centers is your best friend. Get access to helpful training and mentorship with like -minded individuals by finding a Negosyo Center near you.4.In-house TrainingWhat if you can host a training program in your own backyard? In-house training is a low-cost option that works if you already have a venue for the training. Compared to training workshops offered commercially, you can cut down on costs by opting for an in-house training program offered by nearby training providers. With in-house training, you also have to factor in other expenses like venue (if you’re renting a training facility), food, and airfare/transportation of your resource speakers, so it requires a little more planning. But once you’ve considered all these factors, in-house training may just be the right option for you.Wrapping UpTreating employee training as an investment rather than a cost to running your business is the first step in opening the doors to growth. Ultimately, the people you’re working with is the most important asset of your company, so not being stingy on employee training ca n pay dividends for your business.Remember, these training options may be low-cost, but it’s still important to not compromise on quality and get the training program that suits your needs. Having achecklist is an easy way to speed through the consideration process and decide on the best training program for your team.

Exercise - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog

Exercise - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog Check out this quote from an article in Fast Company: A nine-month study of 80 executives found that those who worked out regularly improved their fitness by 22% and demonstrated a 70% improvement in their ability to make complex decisions as compared with non-exercisers. A couple of days ago, there was a doctor on TV talking about the health benefits of regular exercise. The danish state will allow doctors to prescribe exercise the way they describe medication. Among others, exercise is good against heart disease, colon cancer and osteoporosis. The more you exercise, the more it works and heres the clincher: There are NO negative side effects of exercise. Any medicine out there (and I do mean ANY) has side effects. Exercise doesnt. In a time where doctors warn that so many things can be bad for you, I think thats kinda interesting. So exercise?already! Thanks for visiting my blog. If you're new here, you should check out this list of my 10 most popular articles. Being proactive in your job search finding your dream job - Hallie Crawford

Being proactive in your job search â€" finding your dream job We had a great Top Ten Tips teleclass yesterday. The teleclass was very interactive and there was a lot of good learning from the participants. One participant, Terry, explained that she has been fortunate to have enjoyed her career path so far, especially because she fell into it. She was offered different roles at her school over the years and she’s enjoyed every one of them. She’s getting ready to retire now, but she is looking for a job post-retirement. She knows in order to do that, she needs to be proactive and admits that she’s a little fearful of that because so far, everything has really just fallen into her lap. This is understandable and normal. Not everyone gets this lucky and just falls into a job they love. Wouldn’t that be nice if that always happened? She brought up a very important point that I always tell my clients â€" the best way to find a career you love is to proactively seek it out. Create it AND make it happen. So often people are in jobs they dont like because they were not proactive. They just took whatever was offered to them. Are you reacting to your career instead of creating it? Are you taking a job just because it’s offered as opposed to you really wanting it? If so it’s time to take charge! Now this doesnt mean dont pay your bills and say no to something when you need a job for financial reasons-be smart. But in addition to that, take the time to consider what your next best step is and plan for it, take action. Choose what you are doing, dont let it choose you! You can learn more about effectively managing your career transition in my career transition ebook. Here’s to having a career you love! Job Search Help

Bill Gates Says Access to Education Is Why Hes Successful

Bill Gates Says Access to Education Is Why He's Successful Bill Gates hosted his 6th Reddit “Ask Me Anything” on Wednesday, where he answered a variety of questions, ranging from his thoughts on climate change to his favorite beer. The billionaire’s most revealing responses, however, were on how he became so successful and rich. So what does he credit most? “I benefited from having a great education â€" public schools through 6th grade and then a great private School,” Gates said. “So there is a good chance I would never have gotten turned on to software and math the way I did and therefore not as successful.” The question was actually framed in a very interesting way: Would he have become so successful had he been from a low-income family. Gates’ father was a prominent lawyer in his hometown of Seattle. At 13, he enrolled in Lakeside School, which was ranked the number 6 best private school in the country. Gates went on to attend Harvard University for two years, before dropping out to start Microsoft. Gates has made it his mission to bring access to good education to lower-income communities around the world. The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation has made access to K-12 its #1 priority, having pledged $1.7 billion to education reform late last year. A similar question earlier in the AMA broached the same topic of success: “I was a success in getting good grades and test scores in high school. I was a success at writing good code by my early 20s. The dream of the PC being an enabling tool came true by the 1990s, ” he said. “Now I am working on being a good father and the ambitious goals of the Foundation including getting rid of polio and malaria. I think it is always good to have goals where your success is in doubt and I have that in many areas including the work I do on climate change.”

3 Strategies For Making It Past The Initial 5-Second Resume Scan - Work It Daily

3 Strategies For Making It Past The Initial 5-Second Resume Scan - Work It Daily I’ve heard it said various ways: you get a 5, 7, or 30-second initial resume scan from the hiring manager. I can tell you, when I was an HR manager and had 100 resumes to go through. My initial resume scan was about five seconds long, and I was looking for something to catch my eye. Making It Past The 5-Second Resume Scan Here are the three areas I looked at when considering whether to invest more time: Professional Formatting When you’re reviewing 100 resumes a day, the ones that really stick out are the ones you can tell the person invested time into creating. The professional and executive resume formats that were well-organized, easy to read, and perfectly laid out really made reviewing the resume easierâ€"and definitely caught my attention. When you’re comparing a professionally organized and strategically laid out resume to a messy, unprofessional, and disorganized one, determining which one to invest time into reading becomes a no-brainer. After all, why waste time searching through a document trying to find the information you need when someone else has clearly laid it out for you? Easy-To-Find Requirements When I posted a job ad online and was deluged with responses. I was appalled at how many people just shot me a resume that said absolutely nothing about the requirements. I had spent so much time deciding what to include in the ad. Normally, when I posted a job ad I would include: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS and PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS. At the very least, to even be considered, the person had to possess the required qualifications. The resumes that caught my attention were the ones that made it easy for me to see they did indeed meet the requirementsâ€"either by listing them in the top or calling attention to them in a bold, underlined, or italicized font, and placing them throughout their resume. Want to put the nail in the coffin? Call attention to the fact you also meet their preferred qualifications. Meeting the required and preferred qualificationsâ€"and calling attention to this fact in your resumeâ€"makes you a perfect candidate for the job. Compelling, Easy-To-Read Content Long paragraphs on resumes serve one purpose… and that’s to lose the hiring manager’s attention. If you’re using paragraphs with 5+ sentences, then you not only lost my attention, but now the information I need isn’t readily accessible. It’s buried beneath an enormous amount of text density that I don’t have the time to wade through. Keep it concise, cut out the mundane, and highlight your accomplishments. Don’t go super crazy with the bold, underline, or italics. With that said, use them when it fits, and use them to call attention to the most important information. Just to reviewâ€"here’s how to make it past the initial 5-second scan: Professional, polished, and well-organized format (colors and white space, goodâ€"messy and distracting, bad). Make it easy for the hiring manager to find exactly what he or she needsâ€"and to find it quickly. Keep the content concise, and highlight the critical information the hiring manager needs in order to make the decision to call for the interview. Other strategies come into play when creating a compelling resume that will secure interviews. So, if you’re not sure your resume has the right stuffâ€"and if you haven’t heard of personal branding or incorporated it into your resumeâ€"it may be time to call a certified resume writer and get a resume checkup. If it means the difference between three interviews next week or three more months of job searching, you may want to consider speaking with a professional.
